Our Tradition

Rooted in Classical Inquiry

Philosophia School was founded in Adelaide in 2018 on the conviction that philosophy is not a relic of the past, but a living discipline essential to thoughtful engagement with the present. Our pedagogical approach draws on the Socratic method, close textual reading, and sustained seminar discussion.

We believe that genuine understanding emerges through patient inquiry, respectful debate, and the willingness to follow an argument wherever it leads. Our faculty bring decades of combined experience from Australian and international universities, united by a shared commitment to rigorous, accessible philosophical education.

What Our Students Say

The Plato course fundamentally changed how I approach ethical questions in my professional life. The seminar format fostered genuine dialogue, not just passive listening. I left each session with more questions than answers, which is exactly the point.

Margaret Ashworth

Secondary Teacher, Melbourne

After years of self-directed reading, studying Kant with Professor Ellerby was a revelation. The structured, patient approach to the Critique of Pure Reason made what had seemed impenetrable finally accessible and deeply rewarding.

David Kirkpatrick

Retired Solicitor, Adelaide

Philosophia School offers something rare: a space for serious intellectual engagement without academic gatekeeping. The Comparative Philosophy course broadened my horizons and connected me with a brilliant cohort of fellow students.
