No prior study in philosophy is required for most of our courses. Our programmes are designed to be accessible to motivated beginners while remaining intellectually rigorous enough to engage those with existing knowledge. The course descriptions indicate where prior reading is recommended, and our faculty are happy to suggest preparatory materials.
All courses are offered in a hybrid format. Students may attend seminars in person at our Adelaide premises or participate live online. Recorded sessions are made available to enrolled students, though we strongly encourage live attendance for the full benefit of seminar discussion.
We deliberately keep our seminars small, typically between 8 and 18 students. This ensures that every participant has the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to discussion and receive individual attention from the lecturer. If a course reaches capacity, we open additional sections where demand warrants it.
Most courses involve a weekly seminar of 90 minutes to two hours, plus approximately three to four hours of reading and reflection per week. Courses range from 8 to 14 weeks in duration. The workload is designed to be manageable for working professionals and can be adjusted in consultation with the lecturer.
We issue a certificate of completion for each course successfully finished. While Philosophia School is not a degree-granting institution, several of our students have used their coursework as preparation for postgraduate study in philosophy. We are happy to provide reference letters for students who wish to pursue further academic work.
Full refunds are available up to 14 days before the course start date. A 50% refund is available up to 7 days before commencement. After the course has begun, refunds are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Transfers between courses are accommodated where possible at no additional charge. Please refer to our Terms of Service for full details.
Yes. We offer interest-free payment plans for all courses and pricing tiers. Typically this involves splitting the total cost into two or three instalments over the duration of the course. Contact us to arrange a payment schedule that works for your circumstances.

Many primary texts are available in affordable editions or through public domain sources. Supplementary materials, including lecture notes and secondary readings, are provided as part of the course fee.
